Satan nestles in complexity.
Christ bore the weight of the world
He was pierced through His side
And hung to die
That 10,000 years of life, death, and covenant
May be summed up in the two commandments.
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first
and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the
Prophets hang on these two commandments."
He was stomped into the ground like grapes for wine
Poured out for us
Into the perfect gift
In His resurrection He brings it to us with outstretched arms
Offering that we partake
And what have we done?
Around it we have built funhouse cathedrals
Mirrors and twisting arches
Out from which the prowling lion
Can leap and devour us
Christ makes no mistake
When He invites us to consider
The birds of the air
The flowers of the field
When He invites us on the journey
Of seeking His kingdom and His righteousness
In them are beautiful simplicity
It is through creation that God is first most made evident
It is through that by which we pass day to day
That the nature of divinity is reflected
That God sees and cares for everything on the Earth
All that grows out of it
All that walks on it
All that soars above it
All that delve in its oceans
Each He has made with loving intent
Knit us together in the womb
To each He has allotted us
A blink of an eye within this world
100 years in the face of eternity
Yet even acknowledging our nature of dust
God has the mind to weave a tapestry of desires
Into our very hearts
He puts only one condition on working all things together for all good
He puts only one condition on granting the desires of our heart
He puts only one condition on the easy yoke and the light burden
He puts only one condition on freedom
He puts only one condition on joy and peace
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
At the heart of the condition is love.
God is love, and making Christ Lord is to pledge allegiance to love.
It is through this simple condition that the prophecies of ages past come to fruition.
That all the wicked complexity of life is cut away in favor of beautiful truth.
That the burden of self-imposed perfection is lifted from our shoulders.
That we are no longer children of iniquity but bearers of righteousness.
To accept the gift
To run into the arms of Jesus
To walk with Him on the path to the Kingdom
That is life.
